DENVER CHANNEL 7 STORY

What We Hope For

UPDATED 01/12/19:Hello Neighbors! We all want to extend  HUGE thank you to all of you who donated items, donated time to help us, donated gift cards or financially to the gofundme to help the individuals and families affected for Paradise,CA wildfires.

We have had 2 segments with Denver Channel 7 highlighting this cause (see below links). My family had lost their home in fires, so originally we collected for them. After seeing devastation through entire town and areas, we opened up to all donations to help as many people as we can reach! We have been amazed at all the community has donated to help these people in need! We planned originally on using our truck for donations but due to  exceeding expectations so much we are at 2 moving trucks (20ft or larger)! Possibly up to THREE trucks! We have stopped taking items after our drive up donations drive at Cresthill MS few weeks ago. Now, with the event coming to end, we need HELP in delivering to the victims! Due to added trucks and fuel costs etc due to huge amount of donations, we are still asking for any financial or gift card donations to help get us to California!

If you even have $5  to donate, it all goes towards travel and delivery coats. Denver 7 will do one last segment showing delivery of items and wrap up of story, and ALL contribution from people or businesses will be acknowledged and thanked. If you cannot donate at this time, then please share our story! Anything helps, and while we are extremely grateful for shattering the budget and expectations, we now need the little extra help!
We were leaving this weekend for California, but due to weather, groups needs and schedules in California and extra donations/cost we are delaying trip until last week of January.
If have any other questions, please let us know! If you know of or own a truck and would like to be part of the caravan out there, we have room! 😊 Thank you again everyone, you are helping so many in need!

UPDATED 01/09/2019: We have been busy bodies trying to sort and organize what we can from ALL the items received! Donations exceeded so many expectations that we are literally officially needing 2 large moving trucks for the triip!! I have been in contact with groups in CA as well! The biggest hurdle we see is additional fundraising. We started all this with goal to help families and individuals in need due to Wildfire. We have completely blown lid off and so blessed! Its needed so much, however with additional truck and fuel costs etc we have not raised enough funding! If you can ..share this post and link to try raise additional funds to assist larger load gets to destination! Channel 7 WILL be doing last segment on this story for delivery and wrap up. If you, or anyone know can help us drive or can donate to the cause, we will be forever grateful! If company wants to help with funds, or able help with trucks etc we will make sure you and company recognized! Only items still collecting are canned food, diapers/wipes,baby formula (all kinds), hygiene items as well, gallon baggies (for hygiene packs). Thank you all so much!!!

*UPDATED 12/27/2018: We have been so amazed still at the giving of items. We have decided to hold a Donation Day THIS SATURDAY 12/29/2018 FROM 10AM-2PM AT CRESTHILL MIDDLE SCHOOL!! We will be there and Channel 7 News will be following up as well shooting some live scenes!  We are trying to limit furniture still, and focusing on sleeping bags, towels, bedding/blankets, clothes (kids 2T-teen), hygiene packs, pet supplies..baby diapers and formula etc. If you are able to swing by, we will be there and if you do not have items, please share our fundraising links! Thank you all so much!

***UPDATED 12/21/2018 Few things to update with! I apologize if some of you have been waiting, but we are overwhelmed with messages and calls, I am overjoyed with response! I am working my hardest at returning calls, messages, emails and texts. If you have not heard from me, or my voicemail states full, please know I am working at getting all called back. You can email Bethphelps26@gmail.com as well if VM box full. Also, so many thanks to a gracious donated on the gofundme page! We have received very little financial donations, which help immediate needs by families and truck rental/fuel cost for trip. This donation was so wonderful and will help in so many ways in getting items out there! We also have heard, due to huge response, Channel 7 WILL be doing a follow up! We have some ideas and plans in works, with partnering up with schools and businesses so I will update this site once things are confirmed! We again, cannot express how amazing it has been to watch outpouring of compassion from everyone. So many people will be blessed and loved on through your kind gestures, we appreciate you!Last is due to the sheer volume of donations, we are finding it basically impossible to arrange pick up of items. We run our own business, and have 3 kids and we would have be driving 18 hours a day to pick up items 😂 For now, we are taking drop offs to our home through Christmas day, and will update once Christmas is over were we stand on pick ups. Hope you understand! If dropping off, message me 720-390-1475 and I will give out instructions and address. Have a great day everyone!*****UPDATED 12/18/2018 Thank you to The Denver Channel 7 for airing our story! MANY of you saw us on the air and have contacted us to help. We cannot thank you enough! We have been overloaded with messages, so please know if you do not get a reply immediately, you will but please give me a day or two to get back to you! I will be updating this website daily to show TOP NEEDED items. We are putting a limit on furniture at this time as we have received a lot, and many families are still waiting for new home therefore other needs are taking a priority. As you may have seen or heard, many of population was not insured and still camping in tents, or trailers, or staying with a person who is sharing their home nearby on a limited time. With Winter being here, and overnight temps getting to freezing many are left outdoors or without enough heat. We are in DESPERATE need of gift cards, monetary donations, or even if willing to be part of the group traveling and driving, or if know someone in California that can help us store items (if needed) or have hotel vouchers, flight vouchers etc it would be huge help. Funds raised will be going to the immediate needs of those families dealing with harsher conditions until we can be there in January. Please , if you are unable to donate funds or cards at this time, the items being collected are just as important! If you can share the fundrasier links on social media, in order to reach as many as we can! Again, we at Phelps Family are blown away by generosity of all who are and have been jumping in, to help people who so desperately need it right now. Thank you!***

Lasting Impact

When I first heard about raging wildfires, it was from my family stating they had barely made evacuation in time. My cousins live and work in Paradise, CA as EMT, hospital worker, schooling and my other cousin is stationed in Japan. Within moments their home was swallowed by flames as they made the escape with what they could grab.
I wanted to help, and my husband and I had already planned a trip to California for us and 3 kids in January to see Disneyland, Universal and family. We figured we could combine and put few bags in our truck and take with us. I started asking for items to help them once had a home. I heard about more and more families, kids, left in tents with no family or way to rebuild.  The more donations came piling in, we knew we had bigger responsibility. We decided to take our 3 kids stillm and drive in large moving truck to California and make deliveries. Disneyland and Universal will be there another year. This need was greater than ours. We have stuck to that and will be driving Uhaul January 12th to the West Coast to make deliveries to families we have been concating. All ranges from living in tents, to already owning new home..all are in need of SOMETHING we can give. Even if blankets, clothes, teddy bear for scared child..WE CAN HELP!
